Youth becoming technology dependent

In our generation, we have definitely experienced exponential progress in the advancement of technology.

We are fascinated and sometimes even obsessed with the latest gadgets and finding easier ways to do various tasks. Our generation has seen so many innovative products be released and advance rapidly.

Countries have even begun reform movements and revolution through the rapid exchange of ideas and political agendas, and some technology has saved lives and accelerated scientific breakthroughs.

Many people, however, look at certain characteristics of the "technology generation" with distaste.

Some people wonder if our next generation will be technology-dependent. Some psychologists even say that overexposure to technology in childhood causes abnormal social behavior and less interaction with other children.

I believe technology makes some people unappreciative of nature and simpler things.

Many people tend to live on their cell phones, which has caused, in numerous cases, avoidable highway accidents.

The downsides aren't just social and behavioral. Technology also has effects on the production of popular culture.

The excessive use of technology in art seems to take the heart out of it and sometimes makes things seem watered down and lacking human element.

Many musicians for instance, tend to spend as much time, if not more time, editing than rehearsing in the studio.

Modern composers tend to rely on computers for notating and writing pieces of music these days, and art forms of all kinds are plagiarized and infringed upon via the Internet.

Despite the pros and cons of technology, it has been a crucial part of our advancement as a species and has made us quite unique in the world.

It has had a profound impact on us in the past and continues to as the years progress.

As for the cons, I feel like us "whippersnappers" should listen to our elders sometimes when they tell us to turn off the computer or shut off the console and go get some fresh air.
