Author, citizen politician proposes a middle-ground solution

With all that is going on in this country today, it can be easy to forget that one of the major problems America is currently facing has to do with its immigration policies.
As it stands, current policies are inadequate to say the least, and could further harm the American way of life if something is not done to fix the problems.
What’s happening in California is just one example of how bad things have gotten.
If they continue at their current rate, the Los Angeles County will have distributed nearly $650 million worth of welfare benefits to illegal aliens by the end of this year.
Six hundred and fifty million of U.S. citizens’ tax dollars will go to illegal aliens who do not pay taxes and, by definition, are breaking the law by being here in the first place.
This figure comes from the Department of Public Social Services, which shows that roughly $376 million of welfare benefits have already been given out from the start of the year through July to illegal aliens with native-born children.
LA County pays approximately $54 million on welfare payments each month, up $1 million from last year.
“When you add the $550 million for public safety and nearly $500 million for health care,” said Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, “the total cost for illegal immigrants to county taxpayers exceeds $1.6 billion dollars a year.”
Cases such as this are the reason there is such a heated debate going on in our country regarding immigration.
In this instance, it can perhaps be argued that the money is going to the kids of the illegal aliens, who are American citizens by birthright.
But should someone who comes to America illegally and gives birth to a child be allowed to stay and enjoy all the rights of a natural-born citizen?
According to best-selling author and citizen politician Wayne Allen Root, we should end birthright citizenship.
According to Root, “The Obama machine and mainstream media lies about immigration.
They frame the debate as having only two options: the Democrat way, let everyone in and put them all on welfare; or the supposed Republican way, keep everyone out and send those already here, home. That is a blatant lie.”
With his policy, he believes that he strikes a deal that is both fair and practical: a middle ground.
Root went on to say, “Conservatives like me aren’t against immigrants. I love immigrants. Legal immigrants who come to America to work are the lifeblood of America. But I draw the line at someone who comes here to live off government. We can’t allow that.”
Under his proposed policy, the 12 million illegal immigrants who are already here in the U.S. can stay, if they agree to the eight or so points of the compromise.
Among these key points are: a 100 percent sealed border, the 12 million that are already here do not get Obamacare or any other entitlements (except for Social Security after they have worked for it), English becomes the official language of the U.S,, and the already-mentioned ending of birthright citizenship.
Root added that as part of not accepting Obamacare or other entitlements, immigrants won’t have to pay back taxes.
“The left’s approach on this issue is impractical, and will bankrupt this country,” he said.
“I believe the vast majority of the 12 million who broke the law will gladly accept the conservative deal and praise those who ‘compromised’ for their benefit. No other country in the world would offer this deal. Certainly not Mexico.”
Out of all the ideas for reforming America’s insubstantial immigration policies, Root’s is by far the one that makes the most sense for both illegals and U.S. citizens.
Close the borders so U.S. citizens won’t have to worry about another 12 million immigrants coming in, competing for our jobs and draining the system.
I also feel that we have long needed an official national language.
The reason a lot of immigrants don’t learn English is because they do not have to. America is so insane with political correctness that Spanish is on everything, including the voting ballot.
Most of the time, you have to read through a mass of other languages just to find English instructions.
This is happening in a country where the majority of people speak English as their first language.
What I like most about Root’s proposed plan is that it forces illegals to have to work for their citizenship, to learn about this country, and to hopefully instill in them a true, national pride.
It’s like our parents always told us, you don’t really appreciate something unless you earn it for yourself.
