If you’re looking for a way to cool off indoors this summer, get out of the heat and look at some art around town. East Tennessee State University’s Slocumb Galleries will be open all summer holding four exhibitions May through August. Four more shows will also be taking place at Tipton Gallery in downtown Johnson City.

From May 11 through May 25, Slocumb Galleries will present the University High School Student Art Exhibit.

Art featured in the exhibit was created by students in high school art classes taught by Sharon Squibb at University School on the campus of ETSU.

The pieces selected for the show represent various projects, techniques, subjects and media explored throughout the 2011-2012 school year. They include drawings, prints, paintings, sculptures, digital photography and computer graphics.
