Field of Greens a healthy and nutritious choice

ETSU is remodeling itself, renovating its grounds, its programs and its food.
The Atrium is the heart (or maybe the stomach) of dining on campus.
Yes, there are many places to eat on and off of campus, but none have quite the vibe, or the variety of selection, as the Atrium.
When lunch comes by, so do the students, filling every table and waiting in long lines for their food.
This year, ETSU has added new selections of eateries for hungry students to choose from. Besides the commercially successful Taco Bell, there is also a restaurant called Fields of Green. Don’t be fooled by the name, this place is more than your average salad bar.
Field of Greens has a selection of signature salads (which come with a roll) and wraps (which come with a side of homemade chips) to choose from for only $6.59.
Students can choose anything from the standard Chicken Caesar Salad to the Summertime Strawberry Wrap. If you don’t see anything you like, you can create your own for just 20 cents extra.
Field of Greens is definitely one of the healthier options on campus, so for anyone looking to stay healthy in college (which is much harder than it seems), this place is a must.
While I personally wish there was a greater range of toppings, all the standard veggies are covered, and I cannot deny how refreshing it was to be able to easily pick out what I wanted to eat for once.
As a vegetarian, I feel like there’s never anything to eat besides a plain iceberg salad. What makes Field of Greens even better is that there are plenty of options for people who eat meat as well.
The wait in line was on the longer side, but not unbearable or even unusual. The food makes it 100 percent worth the wait.
The Atrium is on the second floor of the Culp Center. Field of Greens is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday.
I strongly recommend checking it out and giving the campus’ newly added healthier option a try for lunch.
