Bucs prepare for season opener against Penn State

With the season-opener less than a week away on Feb. 15, ETSU’s baseball team is preparing to kick off the 2013 season. When the season began last yea,r there was a field to play on but little more. This year, the fans will not have to bring lawn chairs and camp out in the University Edge apartment complex parking lot. During the offseason, Thomas Stadium received seating that wraps around the field from third base, behind home and down the first base line.

The team held a scrimmage Sunday, their last before opening day, at Thomas Stadium. With 20 to 30 fans in the seats the Bucs got to experience a game-like atmosphere with fans behind home plate before the at-bats start to count.

The Buccaneers begin the 2013 season with a three-game, weekend series against Big 10 conference member Penn State.
