The East Tennessee State University track and field teams return to action this weekend as they host the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships inside the MSHA Athletic Center.

Competition is slated to begin Friday morning with the multi-events and conclude Saturday evening.

This year's meet marks the seventh time ETSU has hosted the indoor championships since moving from the Southern Conference to the Atlantic Sun in 2005.

ETSU men have won four indoor crowns under legendary coach Dave Walker, including one title last year over Kennesaw State.

The women's team is still in search of its first indoor title. Jacksonville has won the last six championships, and the Lady Dolphins look to be in great position to defend their title for the seventh consecutive time on the women's side.

Several Buccaneers are in contention to win individual titles or medal.

True freshman K'Vonte Scott is ranked No. 1 in the heptathlon and has chance to become the first freshman in Atlantic Sun history to win conference.

Scott set the school record in the heptathlon last January and will be looking to break former ETSU great Nic Chernikow's meet record of 4,820 points.

Sophomore sprinter Ifrish Alberg heads into Fridays 60-meter preliminaries with the second-fastest time in the conference.

Alberg recorded his first victory of the season in the event, two weeks ago at the Penn State Sykes & Sabock Challenge, where he sped to a time of 6.78 seconds.

On the women's side, a pair of freshman in Taylor Story and Katerina Vodova looks to pace the Bucs in their first championship appearance.

Story will compete in four events — 200, 4x400 relay, long jump, high jump — and the pentathlon.

Vodova will compete in the long jump, high jump, and pentathlon for ETSU.

Vodova ranks second in the conference in the pentathlon with 3,698 points, while Story comes in at fifth with 3,090 points.
