The ETSU Intramural Program is excited to begin its spring sports schedule — which includes basketball, inner tube water polo, ultimate frisbee, softball and 4-on-4 flag football.

The first sports to begin registration are basketball and inner tube water polo, which are both open now. Inner tube water polo, which was introduced to ETSU students in January 2010, is back for its second season.

"We wanted to do something completely new for our students last year and we knew this was a popular sport on other campuses," said Tyler Cole, intramural sports graduate assistant.

"It is basically water polo played in inner tubes, so you don't have to be a particularly strong swimmer to have fun. Everyone last year had a blast," he added.

Intramural basketball registration ends on Tuesday, January 24 while registration for inner tube water polo ends on Tuesday, Jan. 31. All registration for intramural leagues is done through the www.imleagues.com website.

All currently enrolled ETSU students and full-time faculty and staff are eligible to participate in intramural sports. For additional eligibility rules or more information, visit www.etsu.edu/imsports.
