Internship provides look into life of Washington, D.C., resident

Fifteen weeks in Washington, D.C., during election season seemed like a dream come true to me when I heard about The Washington Center back in October. Who wouldn't want to intern in Washington and take a break from Tennessee? That's what I was thinking, but what I did not realize was that this would be a life-changing experience.

I must say, my roommate makes the best stew in all of Ghana. I started walking, at my fast American pace, toward the JQB where my History of Africa class was.

This is a great appetizer for a pasta dish we will feature in the next East Tennessean publication. This is a spinach artichoke dip and is better than "Chetters" if you get what we're saying.

ETSU Opera Theatre to present Aaron Copland's 'The Tender Land'

"The Tender Land," an opera by American composer Aaron Copland, will be presented by the East Tennessee State University Opera Theatre next Thursday and Saturday (April 3 and 5) at 7:30 p.m. in the Bud Frank Theatre in Gilbreath Hall. Set in the 1930s in a Midwest farming town, this three-act opera focuses on one farming family's hopes in their soon-to-be-graduated daughter, the daughter's dream of a larger life, and a mother's acceptance of life's seasons.

Forensic center named in honor of Bill Jenkins

During its quarterly meeting today, the Tennessee Board of Regents approved the naming of The William L. Jenkins Forensic Center at East Tennessee State University's James H. Quillen College of Medicine. The Tennessee Board of Regents is the governing board for ETSU.
