Middle East expert delivers free lecture on 'differences in ways of thinking'

Thursday night ETSU had a free lecture night sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences. The lecture was given by Dr. Graham Leonard and discussed "Differences in ways of thinking in the Middle East from the West." Leonard is from Kingsport but has spent almost 60 years learning and teaching about the Middle East.

Campus organization to sponsor antiwar speaker in March

The Students of American Liberty will be hosting an antiwar event in the Culp Center's Martha Street Culp Auditorium on March 4 at 6 p.m. This event will be featuring Justin Raimondo, author and editorial director of Antiwar.com. Matthew Jeffers, co-founder of Students of American Liberty, helped organize the campus group to engage the students of ETSU in a debate over the role of government.

'The N-Word and Post Racism in Hip Hop' coming to ETSU

The East Tennessee State University Diversity Events Committee, along with several student organizations and academic departments, is bringing the national Rap Sessions Tour to campus Monday (Feb. 23) at 7 p.m. in the D.P. Culp University Center's Martha Street Culp Auditorium.

'Schema' at Slocumb

The ETSU Department of Art and Design is pleased to announce the opening of David Mazure's Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition, "Schema." The exhibition will be held from Feb. 23-27 at the Slocumb Galleries in Earnest C. Ball Hall on the East Tennessee State University campus.

ETSU honored in competition for film

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) recently honored East Tennessee State University with CASE District III recognition in the 2008 competition. Competing in the category of "Films and Videotapes," ETSU was named the Grand Award winner, chosen from a field that included entries submitted by Duke University's Duke Medicine, Emory University, North Carolina State University, and the University of Central Florida.
