First off, congratulations to America for changing the annals of history by electing the first African-American president in our country. Secondly, I want to address the recent brouhaha over Barack Obama being compared to Lincoln. I love comparisons, and as a history graduate, especially those historical comparisons.
The Thanksgiving holiday is approaching quickly and our hearts and minds are filled with excitement for our holiday traditions. The recent snowfall has put us even more into the holiday spirit. Most of us are excited about eating Thanksgiving dinner with our families, possibly putting up our Christmas trees, and beginning our holiday shopping.
President-elect Barack Obama campaigned long and hard on the promise of hope and change. At the Democratic convention one of Obama's best quotes from his nomination acceptance speech in Denver, Colorado, was; "For eighteen long months, you have stood up, one by one, and said enough to the politics of the past.
