Second annual brain injury conference to be held at ETSU

Dr. Angela Radford Lewis, chair of the Family and Consumer Sciences Department within East Tennessee State University's College of Business and Technology, has been selected by the Tennessee Board of Regents, the nation's sixth largest system of higher education and ETSU's governing body, to participate in the 2008 Maxine Smith Fellows Program.

Real World 101on March 13

The East Tennessee State University Alumni Association is hosting Graduation Celebration: Real World 101 on Thursday, March 13. The event will be from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the D.P. Culp Center in the Atrium area. The Alumni Association is partnering with Balfour Jewelers to offer this event as an essential for the graduating student's transition into the "real world.

Hispanic Student Day

East Tennessee State University's Department of Foreign Languages in the College of Arts and Sciences will hold the annual Hispanic Student Day on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Bud Frank Theatre in Gilbreath Hall. The day, which will provide an orientation to college life, is intended for any middle or high school student of Hispanic heritage.

Among the professional categories, a gold award in regional or national television single spots was presented for "I Know," the ETSU faculty and staff convocation video, with faculty member Martin Fitzgerald providing the creative and technical work and D.

Classes focusing on region offered

Among the array of classes offered during ESU's second summer session (July 7-Aug. 8) will be two courses concerning the Appalachian region. "Coal Mining in Appalachia" will focus on the history of coal mining, including its economic, environmental, and social impact on local communities, the Appalachian region, the nation, and the world.
