Early season track and field accolades for Rainer

The outdoor track and field season just opened and it did not take long for ETSU star sprinter James Rainer to add to his collection, as the Atlantic Sun conference tabbed him Athlete of the Week on Wednesday. Rainer and the Bucs began outdoor competition in harsh weather conditions last weekend at the Charlotte 49er Classic.

Soccer skills camp dates announced

East Tennessee State University women's soccer head coach Heather Henson has announced the dates of the third annual 'Champions of Tomorrow' soccer camps. The ETSU Skills Camp for ages 5-8 will be held from June 4-7 from 9 a.m. to noon. An Elite Skills Camp has been added this year for girls ages 9-19.

Senior Justin Aughey's 10th-inning double scored two runs, breaking a 6-6 tie, and the Baseball Bucs rallied for the ninth time this season, posting an 8-6 extra inning victory over Appalachian State Tuesday night at L.P. Frans Stadium in Hickory, N.C. Senior C.

Women's tennis comes up big on road, narrowly defeats UNC-Charlotte 4-3

The ETSU women's tennis team defeated UNC Charlotte 4-3 at the D.P. Phillips Tennis Complex. The Lady Bucs improve to 7-8 on the season, while the 49ers fell to 6-3. In doubles play ETSU was strong in the No. 1 position, Olya Batsula and Masha Ilina defeated Ana Spivakovsky and Ali Piacente 8-4.

Lady Bucs volleyball winners on, off court, team receives community service award

ETSU head volleyball coach Lindsey Devine and members of East Tennessee State University's Lady Bucs volleyball team were honored recently for their dedication and service to Communities in Schools Johnson City (CISJC). The Lady Bucs volleyball team has volunteered as mentors/tutors for CISJC for the past four years.

390 donors beat deadline to reach goal of $300,000

With two weeks to spare, East Tennessee State University President Dr. Paul Stanton announced Tuesday that the university has reached his preliminary goal of raising $300,000 in financial support for a new football program. With 390 donors coming together to support the vision for a new football program, Stanton said it sends a message to students who are preparing for a referendum vote April 10-11 to decide whether a new athletic fee should be instituted to support such a program.
