Chinese festival at ETSU bridges gaps between age, ethnicity

Saturday evening, a traditional celebration of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival was held at the Basler Center for Physical activity. Organized by the Chinese Student and Scholar Association and the ETSU Office of Multicultural Affairs, the event was planned as a night where people of all ethnic backgrounds could gather to learn a little about Chinese culture, as well as have a little fun along the way.

ETSU's overall budget cut by over $3 million

ETSU's overall budget cut by over $3 million

The economic crisis hit hard at ETSU Monday afternoon, taking the form of a total budget reversion of $3,239,800, to be implemented Nov. 1. Tuition increases, program cuts and layoffs are not expected at this time, but university officials say the cut is still a very serious matter.

ETSU to put on classic American play

The ETSU Division of Theater and Dance will perform "Inherit the Wind," one of the truly great examples of American playwriting. The show runs from Thursday, Oct 16, through Sunday, Oct. 19. It is very appropriate that it be shown here in Tennessee. The play is loosely based on the Scopes Trial, which was held in Dayton, Tenn.

Every day I hear people, both on campus and off, speak of how the youth vote will change the upcoming presidential election.

Religious opinion

Dear Editor, The Oct. 6 edition of the East Tennessean had an article by Whitney Harris and a letter by Bob Dietz that both concerned religious belief. Dietz wtrote a letter to the editor printed in the paper in which he, most likely jokingly, endorsed Satanism.

Lady Bucs prove their spot in the ranking

Friday night the Lady Buccaneers took on the Kennesaw State Owls in Brooks Gymnasium. The Lady Bucs are ahead of Kennesaw by only one spot in the A-Sun Conference as of Oct. 3, so it was possible that this could have been a tight game. The team proved there is a reason they are ahead in the rankings.
