The East Tennessee State University Department of Art & Design and Slocumb Galleries present "Revelation," a two-man exhibit featuring new works by Donna Wilt and John Hilton, from Jan. 23 to Feb. 3 at the Tipton Gallery.
The public is invited to view the exhibition and meet the artists during the First Friday reception on Feb. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Donna Wilt is a figurative humanist who takes a more subjective approach towards drawing the human body. She explores self-discovery through narrative, using her own form as her model. Wilt employs chiaroscuro, allowing the visual tension in her work to be implicated through the physicality of her movements.
John Hiton finds the core of his work concerned with memory, narrative, identity and personal history. His drawings and prints are highly autobiographical and through his work he attempts to understand life and communicate ideas in terms of his own sensibilities.
As he works, he finds images and ideas changing, just as his life's unfolding narrative changes.
Both Wilt and Hilton are adjunct faculty at ETSU's Department of Art & Design.
The Tipton Gallery is located at 126 Spring St., at Downtown Johnson City. The gallery is open during first Friday receptions and by appointment only.
The Tipton Gallery is sponsored by the ETSU Department of Art & Design and the Urban Redevelopment Alliance (URA).
